Martin Parr in Rotterdam

Posted on on jun 5, 2014

Yesterday I visited the LantarenVenster in Rotterdam for the third edition of The Donkere Kamer Rotterdam. Wow! Guest speaker: the British photographer Martin Parr. He is a legendary documentary photographer, photojournalist (Magnum) and photobook collector. In a career spanning more than 40 years and often focuses on themes of leisure, consumption and communication, Martin Parr’s unique and ambiguous vision of the world has led audiences worldwide to find drama in the every day.

Well, he turned out to be a very humble man underpinning in every word he said his quote:  “If I knew how to take a great photo, I would stop.”

With a signature sessions afterwards it did n’t take long to buy his new book (with his signature, of course). The second retrospective: the only complete career monograph – updated and expanded!

De Donkere Kamer Rotterdam is a joint cooperation between DuPho, Nederlands Fotomuseum and PhotoQ.
