Stormy weather in Iceland
Iceland is a destination with a unique, wild and very diverse nature. You will find not only the largest glacier in Europe on Iceland, but also active volcanoes, rugged coastlines and a landscape that is clearly still in motion. In winter Iceland is perhaps at its best. Nice graphical landscapes, frozen waterfalls and with some luck the magical Northern Lights.
I visited Iceland in March 2014 during a photo trip organised by Nordic Vision lead by nature photographer Theo Bosboom. Theo is a real Iceland specialist.
Our first stop was Reynisdrangar are basalt sea stacks situated under the mountain Reynisfjall near the village Vík í Mýrdal, southern Iceland which is framed by a black sand beach that was ranked in 1991 as one of the ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world.
Jokulsarlon (Jökulsárlón) is a beautiful ice lake in southeast Iceland. The 18 square kilometer glacier lagoon (glacier lagoon) is located along the famous ring road no. 1 goes around Iceland. With it’s almost 260 meters depth, it is the deepest lake in Iceland.
