Albania, Kosovo & North Macedonia
For a long time, I wanted to gain experience in documentary photography. Still, a very different genre from landscape and nature photography. Fortunately, Jeroen Toirkens, himself an excellent documentary photographer, organises photo trips for that purpose together with Nordic Vison. One country that lends itself perfectly to this is Albania. Nice people, easy to travel and, en passant, Kosovo and North Macedonia are also good to visit. Besides looking around in small towns and villages, we also spent two nights as guests of Florian, who, with his wife, grows vegetables and raises cattle on his alm high in the Albanian Alps in summer.
Thanks to Jeroen’s vast experience, I learnt a lot about visual language and his fondness for black-and-white photos I also enjoyed taking over. This type of photos lends itself to it. Well, not everything has to be in black and white….
